Sebastian (or Sébastien) Stoskopff (Strasbourg, July 13, 1597 – Idstein February 10, 1657) was an Alsatian painter. Nowadays, he is considered one of the most important German still life painters of his time. Long forgotten and unsung compared to Dutch and Flemish still life painters of the European Baroque period, his works were rediscovered by art historians only after 1930. Stoskopff is known to be a painter well-versed in portraying goblets, cups and particularly glasses. His still life compositions are characterized to be reduced to a few objects. Chief works by Stoskopff today are mostly hanging in Strasbourg, France and in Saarbrücken, Germany.

The Four Elements or Winter (Les quatre éléments or L’iver), circa 1633. Musée de l’Œuvre Notre-Dame. This tableau is an allegory of four seasons represented with symbols - air is represented with a goose on a skewer, poultry on the wall, turkey lard on the plate; water is represented with fish; earth with vegetables; fire with chimney and spitfire. The stew, cooked with cabbage, pig's feet, chard, bacon, roast goose, stuffed turkey with onions (hanging wall) is a typical winter dish.
