Playboy Architecture
& collect
Playboy Architecture 1953-1979: The exhibition, on view at Deutsches Architekturmuseum in Frankfurt until April 20th 2014, examines the innovative role Playboy magazine played in the dissemination and promotion of avant-garde architecture and design for nearly 30 years, from the 1950s through the 1970s . The magazine regulary featured articles on innovative and visionary architectural designs from its inception into the late 1970s, thus becoming an important communicator of avant-garde design currents to public. Playboy, mixing pin-up models, furniture, and design objects in both erotic or non-erotic photography, cleverly introduced a mass audience to the world of modern architecture and design.
