Shape-shifting robotic structures
Simulations for a research on shape-shifting robotic structures. Shape memory alloy sticks are linked by flexible joints. As electrical charges are applied, the linked shape memory strands change their lenght and the joints change their friction. The result are different formal configurations of the entire structure. When applied in pulses, robotic structures could be propelled by structural shape shifts, and collapsed structures could be useful for storage.
