Kochi Biennale 2014

The Kochi Biennale draws the attention of the international art world to Kochi, the largest city in the Indian state of Kerala. Titled "Whorled Explorations", the second edition of the artist-curated Kochi-Muziris Biennale was curated by Jitish Kallat and gathered 94 artists from India and around the world to contemplate and comment on globalization in the context of this city of the spice trade, of science and of literature. Julian Charriere's 'We Are All Astronauts' installed at Durbar Hall, Ernakulam. The artist has used thirteen found globes made of glass, plastic, paper and wood. Steel base with MDF board; dust from globes surface and international mineral sandpaper.

Rafael Lozano-Hemmer's 'Pan-anthem' installed at David Hall, Fort Kochi. The artist has used loudspeakers with custom-electronics for sound playback, power distribution battens, ultrasonic proximity sensors, LED screens, steel plates, paper printouts showing alternative statistical arrangements.

Anish Kapoor's water vortex 'Descension' is installed at Apsinwall House, Fort Kochi.

Mona Hatoum's work titled 'Undercurrent' at Aspinwall House, Fort Kochi. The artist has used Cloth covered electric cable, light bulbs, computerised dimmer unit. (31.16 ft in diameter)
