The past year Stian Korntved Ruud spent most of his time exploring the unique organic qualities of wood. By repeating the production of a spoon every day for 365 days, the goal is to challenge and explore the aesthetic and functional qualities of spoons. Stian makes all spoons only with hand tools. The point of this is to actively cooperate with the material. In a modern industrial production the machines overwrites the wooden structures and natural growth pattern. Stian (1989) studied product design at Akershus University College and the Oslo School of Architecture and design in Oslo and he interned at Tom Dixon in London.
