Guiseppe Galli da Bibiena (Parma, 1696-Berlin, 1756) was painter, draftsman, event and theatre designer. By 1716, he designed all major celebrations of the Habsburgs, including the coronation of Charles VI as King of Bohemia in 1723 and the marriage between the daughter of Charles VI, Maria Theresa and Francis I, Duke of Lorraine (1736). In 1725, he was appointed professor of architecture at the Academy of Bologna and two years later was elected prime engineer of the Emperor theater, working for the court of Vienna and in Prague, Graz and Linz. He worked as stage and theater designer at the Markgräfliche Opernhaus Bayreuth (1745-1748) and the Opera in Dresden (1753). His drawings of imaginary architecture have been published in ´Architetture e prospettive´ in Vienna in 1740, dedicated to Charles VI.
