Call Water
Cymatic Pool is an interactive sculptural installation that visitors can communicate with through their mobile phones. Cymatics is the study of how sound vibrations create visible patterns and shapes in materials such as fluids and sand. In China there are thousand-year-old singing fountains that react to a hand rubbing a metal bowl filled with water.

The work of art Cymatic Pool has its own phone number (+46735490369) you can call. After awaiting a tone and instructions, you can use the volume and pitch of your own voice to make the basin vibrate and shake. The surface is transformed into a shifting pattern, from gentle ripples to violent bubbling. The voice and sounds are converted into physical form and a new linguistic interface is created. The scene is framed by a polished stainless steel edge with a sweeping, wavelike shape that calls to mind the movement of the water. The metal echoes the temperament and reflections of the water, making it a part of the living surface of the pool.

Lars Bergström and Mats Bigert collaborate since 1986.
