Christian Herdeg was born 1942 in Zurich. Trained as a photographer, cameraman and lighting technician, he worked in Europe and Canada as a documentary and reportage photographer. Between 1968 an 1971 he lived in Canada, where he created his first kinetic light objects in Montreal, Toronto and Chicago. In 1971 he returned to Europe. Apart from longer stays in New York he worked since then as light artist in Zurich.
