Jean Royère (1902-1981) worked in the import-export business before working for cabinetmaker Pierre Goufeé. He received commissions for restaurants, hotels, and private residences, including the Carlton Bar on the Champs Elysees and the interior for the Hôtel Saint-Georges in Beirut, Lebanon. Among his patrons were King Farouk, King Hussein of Jordan, and the Shah of Persia.
