Inspired by the culture, cuisine and hospitality of the ancient silk road, this ceramics series consists of 4 basic container forms and is completed by a plate with a small pedestal, inspired by Song dynasty plates. The containers, fitting snugly into each other, can also be used upside down, converting from pots and dishes to lids and covers. That way, a variety of combined forms can be made from just 4 basic forms. Not only fine Asian cuisine, but also contemporary creative dishes can be served with covers to keep them warm and to enhance the serving experience. The covers, when turned upside down, can hold sauces and side dishes. If not in use at the table, the series can just as well be used as containers, for instance for jams, pickles or fermented dishes.
