revoir is an interactive mirror, creating landcapes and collages through emotion detection. It makes the act of observation a part of the creative act: by observing, the audience influences the medium. The medium thus becomes an open-ended exchange with its audience. As the observer changes his facial expression, the expression assigned to this emotional state becomes more visibly blended into the medium. This project was selected as finalist in the Playable Museum Awards 2018 of Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze and Museo Marino Marini in Florence, Italy. 19th century portrait photography was often made with painted backdrops of sylvan landscapes. This practice not only attempted to bridge the gap between the new medium of photography and portrait painting; it also catered to the desire of clients to be part of a work of art.
