Murat Germen is an artist using photography as an expression / research tool. He has an MArch degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he went as a Fulbright scholar and received AIA Henry Adams Gold Medal for academic excellence. Works as a professor of art, photography and new media at Sabanci University in Istanbul. Having many articles / photo series published on architecture / photography / art / new media at various magazines / books; he has been accepted to several symposia / conferences like SIGGRAPH, ISEA, Mutamorphosis, Towards a Science of Consciousness, CAe, CAC2, EVA-London, eCAADe, ASCAAD to lecture on pertinent topics. Has opened over seventy inter/national (Turkey, USA, Italy, Germany, UK, Mexico, Portugal, Uzbekistan, Greece, Japan, Russia, Iran, India, France, Canada, Bahrain, Korea, Dubai, China, Sweden, Switzerland, Egypt) exhibitions. The artist and his artistic work is represented by artON Istanbul in Turkey, ARTITLEDcontemporary in the Netherlands-Belgium and Rosier Gallery in San Francisco. More than 300 editions of the artist’s several artworks are in personal collections of eminent art collectors inter/nationally, in addition to a few that are in Istanbul Modern’s and Proje4L Elgiz Museum of Contemporary Art (Istanbul) collections.

Murat Germen fotoğrafı bir ifade / araştırma aracı olarak kullanan bir sanatçı. Fulbright burslusu olarak gittiği Massachusetts Institute of Technology’den (MIT) Mimarlık yüksek lisans derecesini Amerikan Mimarlar Birliği (AIA) Altın Madalyası ile aldı. Sabancı Üniversitesi Sanat ve Sosyal Bilimler Fakültesi’nde fotoğraf, sanat ve yeni medya dersleri vermekte. Fotograf, mimarlık, mültimedya tasarımı, kent planlaması, sanat ve bilgisayar destekli tasarım konularında birçok basılı / çevrimiçi yayını olan Germen, aynı konular üzerinde üniversitelerde ve SIGGRAPH, ISEA, Towards a Science of Consciousness, CAe, CAC2, EVA-London, eCAADe, ASCAAD gibi sempozyum / konferanslarda çalışmalarını sundu. Türkiye, Amerika, İtalya, Almanya, İngiltere, Meksika, Portekiz, Özbekistan, Yunanistan, Japonya, Rusya, İran, Hindistan, Fransa, Kanada, Bahreyn, Kore, Dubai, Çin, İsveç, İsviçre, Mısır gibi ülkeler olmak üzere yetmişin üzerinde kişisel / karma sergiye katkıda bulundu. Sanatçı ve eserleri Türkiye’de artON Istanbul, Hollanda-Belçika’da ARTITLEDcontemporary ve San Francisco’da Rosier Gallery tarafından temsil edilmekte. Sanatçının farklı eserlerine ait üçyüzün üzerinde edisyon, yurtiçi / yurtdışındaki kişisel koleksiyonlara ve Istanbul Modern ile Proje 4L Elgiz Çağdaş Sanat Müzesi’nin koleksiyonlarına dahil edildi.
