penccil: Printed light
Printed light
& collect
As part of the project ´Printed Optics´ at Disney Research, the team of Karl D.D. Willis, Eric Brockmeyer, Scott Hudson, and Ivan Poupyrev at Disney Research Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University came up with novel light bulbs which can directly be 3D printed by end consumers.

3D printed light bulbs enable many exciting new form factors.
Light pipes inside the bulbs can direct light and create internal patterns.
Complex shapes can be designed and used with energy efficient LED light sources.
