Printed candy
& collect
The Sugar Lab by Kyle and Liz von Hasseln, a husband and wife architectural design team in Los Angeles, started when the two were graduate students and tried to 3D print a cake instead of baking a birthday cake for a friend. After a period of trial and error, they managed to print a tiny cupcake topper that spelled her name in cursive sugar. When they realized other people would be interested in printed sugar as well, they started The Sugar Lab in Silver Lake. The Sugar Lab was aquired by 3D Systems in 2013. ChefJet Pro can make any shape imaginable utilizing a variety of confectionary recipes including sugar, fondant and sweet and sour candy in a variety of flavors--sculptural, ornate cake toppers, bespoke candies and mints, delicate latticework over which a cocktail is poured, logo sugar cubes, just to name a few.
