The core divides the space of one room gently and it serves as an important infrastructure of daily life.
This project is a minimal house for a young couple built along the riverside of Ochiaigawa of Higashikurume, Tokyo prefecture, in Japan.
We designed the interiors so that nobody could feel and see their daily life extremely. Outer shell has minimum function such as only an insulation and the lighting, and it is abstract expression of a weak, white and thin outline.
We examined materials closely and made space without waste for the demand of the client of a low cost house.
From the main room you can appreciate an abstract picture, the scenery of Ochiaigawa totally gets through a big picture window. It also seems to be one representational painting cut on a frame.
The house is built next to the greenest zone of Ochiaigawa, being a simple and white volume like a “TOFU” individualizes to it surrounding environment.
Contrary to it, We put almost daily life function into the core which constitutes a nest. Furthermore, We paint the core in deep-blue and assume it contrastive expression with the outer shell.
