Wieslaw Smetek
& collect
Wieslaw Smetek is one of the most active magazine illustrators in Germany. As photography gradually conquered the media during the course of the 20th century, the general view for a long time was that illustrations had had their day. But far from it: they are celebrating a comeback on front pages, in fashion magazines and Zeitgeist brochures. Wieslaw Smetek´s work is most often to be seen on the covers of Zeit, Stern and Spiegel. His images are at the same time surprising, original and understandable for everyone. COVERS AND MORE - ILLUSTRATIONS BY WIESLAW SMETEK is on view at Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg from May 9th to August 17th, 2014. Courtesy: Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg.
