Voyager avec un crayon: Jacques de Loustal

À la fin des années 70, alors étudiant en architecture, il commence à publier des illustrations dans Rock & Folk où il rencontre Philippe Paringaux qui lui écrira plusieurs scénarios de bandes dessinées publiées dans Métal Hurlant, puis (A suivre). Ensemble ils signeront une dizaine d´albums dont "Barney et la note bleue", "Coeurs de sable", "Kid Congo", "Le sang des voyous", etc. Il a aussi travaillé avec d´autres écrivains tels Jerôme Charyn pour « Les frères Adamov » et « White Sonya », Jean Luc Coatalem pour "Jolie mer de Chine" et "Rien de neuf à Fort Bongo",Dennis Lehane pour "Coronado",et Tonino Benacquista pour "Les amours insolentes". Il a signé récemment avec JC Gotting "Pigalle 62.27" et a entrepris un nouveau projet avec lui, "Black Dog". Parallèlement à ses activités d’auteurs de bande dessinée, il travaille beaucoup comme illustrateur pour l’édition (notamment l’œuvre de George Simenon), la presse (The New Yorker, Senso, etc.), la publicité, et expose régulièrement ses peintures à la galerie Champaka, entre Paris et Bruxelles. Grand amateur de voyages, il rapporte de ses périples des carnets de dessins publiés d´abord aux éditions du Seuil et maintenant aux éditions de la Table Ronde, "Dessins d´ailleurs" et "Esprits d´ailleurs".
